Transcript for February 6th

Welcome to February 6th on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate freedom of the clipped-wing nature to the self-serve kind.  More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

If the faltering wattle of an aquatic fowl conjures images of outgoing politicians then you’ll appreciate National Lame Duck Day.  Celebrated on February 6th in honor of the ratification of the 20th Amendment to our United States Constitution, the Lame Duck Amendment effectively shortened the time that an outgoing office holder has to hold their position.

While the two month period has been used to approve some sweeping legislation, it is far better than the former system which allowed 13 months for politicians to “burn down the house!”

And if you enjoy keeping things on the cool side, then enjoy the freedom of flavors on National Frozen Yogurt Day. First produced in 1970 by H.P. Hood as “Frogurt,” this soft-serve treat was quickly copied by Humphreys and Dannon as took off in the 80’s with our craving for “health food.”  Though ice cream manufacturers answered with more low-fat options, our taste buds for tart keep us coming back for Fro-Yo. On National Frozen Yogurt Day share your DIY creations at your favorite location.
