Transcript for February 27th

Welcome to February 27th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate all things chili. More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

Even though we associate chili with Texas and the Southwest, would you believe that the chili capital of the world is Cincinnati? Texans may take exception with that title, but it’s true. Every region seems to have their own spin on how to prepare chili. Some like it spicy, some with beef, some with chicken, and—if you’re in Cincinnati—with a touch of cinnamon. Whatever your preference, rustle up your favorite recipe and enjoy National Chili Day!

And speaking of “chilly” the Arctic Circle is home to the largest four-legged predator on the planet. Polar bears are beautiful, but make no mistake they are built for hunting. With super powers such as traction on ice, and the ability to smell their prey from over 20 miles away, most other animals don’t stand a chance. And that beautiful white coat is actually made up of translucent hairs that only appear white because they reflect the color of snow. On National Polar Bear Day, considering helping them with the only threat they cannot overcome on their own, their disappearing climate.
