National Pack Your Lunch Day | National Mario Day

Transcript for March 10th

Welcome to March 10th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate saving a buck and saving the princess.  More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

In grade school, lunchboxes were such a status symbol. Who cared about the PBJ and apple inside? Star Wars and Pokemon branding didn’t make the food actually taste better, but it certainly felt that way. As adults, lunchtime is typically spent driving to a restaurant nearby our office and overspending on something we didn’t really want in the first place. I mean, how many $15 soup/sandwich combos can one person eat in a lifetime Today on National Pack Your Lunch Day, take a few minutes to prepare a meal to take with you to work or school. It’s bound to be healthier and certainly less expensive than eating out. Cool lunchboxes are optional.

Jumping over flaming barrels, stomping on killer turtles, racing go-karts over rainbow highways—there’s not much this brave little plumber hasn’t done. Since his first appearance in Donkey Kong way back in 1981, Mario has become the most popular character in the history of video games. Today celebrates everyone named Mario, but this digital hero is arguably the most famous of the bunch. Celebrate National Mario Day by dusting off that old copy of Super Mario Brothers and spend a couple hours saving the world from Bowser and his evil Koopa minions.
