National Get Over It Day | National Meatball Day

Transcript for March 9th

Welcome to March 9th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate the moments of “D’OH!” and say Grazie to a bambino who’s been around the block.  More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

“Staircase Wit.” It’s what you call that moment when you realize the perfect thing you should’ve said earlier. Maybe it was a job interview question you screwed up or maybe it was something you could’ve said to win an argument. We all do it, dwelling on the past so much that we’re missing out on the present. Today on National Get Over It Day, let it go. So what if that big meeting went badly? Who cares if you accidentally spilled wine all over your date? Move on, because there are better things coming just around the corner.

Spaghetti just wouldn’t be the same without them. Neither would trips to IKEA. We’re talking about meatballs! Even though we associate them with Italy (apologies to Sweden), this delicious food started off in Persia. They became popular in the Middle East, and then China. It wasn’t until Venetian traders visited the Far East and fell in love with meatballs that the food rolled its way into Italy. And to add another twist to the story, the pairing of meatballs with spaghetti actually originated in America. Quite the trip for such a small food, don’t you think? On National Meatball Day, celebrate this savvy traveler, who’s picked up quite the spicy reputation!
