And speaking of girls who rock, National Vet Girls RISE Day recognizes the immense dedication of the nearly 2 million U.S. veteran women. Serving in the military since the Revolutionary War, the contribution of women has been largely overlooked. That is until Annie Oakley took the stage, in the musical Annie Get Your Gun and proclaimed: “Anything you can do I can do better!” Today, we know the power and true partnership that our women in the armed forces bring, and on National Vet Girls RISE Day we celebrate their significant contributions to both military and civilian life.
