Transcript for February 20th

Welcome to February 20th on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate the love of a pie that never goes out of fashion and the friends we love for better or worse.  More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

Oliver Cromwell banned the eating of pie in England in 1644. Clearly the man had never tasted cherry pie. And here in America, George Washington famously chopped down a cherry tree, but there’s no word whether he made pie with the fruit or not. In celebration of National Cherry Pie Day remember the words of the author Tom Robbins, who said, “Let’s get over ourselves, buy a cherry pie, and go fall in love with life.”

They chew up our furniture, they puke on our rugs, and they wake us up at odd hours of the night for no reason at all. And still we love them?! Furry, feathery, or scaly, our pets are part of the family. So why not spend a little extra time with your animals and give them the love and the attention they deserve on National Love Your Pet Day.  Chewing up your favorite pair of shoes is just part of their charm.

Get ready for tomorrow’s celebration: National Sticky Bun Day.
