Transcript for February 26th

Welcome to February 26th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate something Grimm and something green. More after the break from our founder, Marlo Anderson.

The tasty and incredible, addictive pistachio is something you can eat by the 100s, but did you know you can also make use of the pile of shells you’ve left in your wake. Add them to paper to use as kindling, line the bottom of potted plants to help with drainage, or place the salted shells around outdoor plants to keep away snails and slugs. But don’t feel obligated to do anything other than munch on these tasty, but healthy little treats. Crack some nuts and get snacking! Today is National Pistachio Day.

Gingerbread houses, fairy godmothers, giants who abduct villagers. These are all staples of fairy tales; stories that have been passed down for centuries. But it was only in the early 1800’s that someone thought to write them down. The Brothers Grimm put together a collection of the best-known tales and those are the stories we’ve come to know and love. On National Tell a Fairy Tale Day keep the story alive and read something Grimm when it’s time for bed.
